This is a special event that will pair contemporay artists with legacy works by noted painters of historical significance.  Sallie will present a painting from Rocky Mountain National Park to honor a piece painted by Waldo G. Beaman that was completed in 1894.  Sallie hiked extensively in the park to find the precise location for the painting, executed a plein air study and produced a studio work to present her view of the same scene that was painted over 100 years ago.

You are invited join us for a celebration of Sallie’s long time association with Mary Williams Fine Arts in Boulder. Sallie’s artistic roots are here in Boulder and at Mary’s gallery. The afternoon will include an open house, an artist demo and plenty of time to visit with Sallie about her art journey and the role that her home gallery has played in making her a rising star in the Western art world. New paintings will be available.

Held in conjuction with the Loveland Sculpture Show the Artists Charitable Fund provides financial help to artists in crisis. Enjoy free sub sandwiches, beer and wine under the stars while bidding on paintings and sculpture by many well know artists including Anita Mosher, James Biggers, Nathan Solano, Cammie Lundeen, George Lundeen and Sallie K. Smith.

Get away from the city for the day and enjoy the beauty of the Rocky Mountains while you watch more than 30 artists paint en plein air on 50 private and picturesque wildlife-filled acres. The completed paintings will be available for sale during a silent auction held during the brunch from noon until 1:30 pm.  Quick Draw 10-11:30 am.    This premier show will present the landscapes of Rocky Mountain National Park and the surrounding areas of Roosevelt National Forest, Comanche Peaks Wilderness and other spectacular vistas. Each artist has been invited to create one large landscape painting for the show. All the paintings will have been painted in 2010 and will represent the culmination of years of work and study. Each painting will encompass all the experience the artist possesses and their own technique in achieving a masterpiece.

Once again Sallie will participate in Boulder Open Studios.  This is a unique opportuntity to visit with Sallie in her home and studio located in the hills above Boulder.  The setting is spectacular and patrons enjoy the opportunity to see Sallie at work and speak with her about her process.  The event kicks off with an opening exhibition at the Boulder Public Library and continues for the next two weekends...October 2-3, 9-10.  For more information, maps and previews visit www.openstudios.org
