| Sometimes painting from life outdoors is frustrating and fruitless. Other times when the setting, lighting and my skill are in harmony the resulting work is special. On a late May day my daughter, husband and I hiked over drifts of snow into Dream Lake. As they hiked further I set up to capture the spring feel of this high mountain lake with Hallet Peak as background. Within a couple of hours I was able to capture the beauty of the day in this dramatic setting. I later executed this studio piece from the plein air study. |
